Amanda fillers

Coach

  • CrossFit Level 1 and Level II Certified
  • CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting
  • CrossFit Gymnastics
  • Adaptive Athlete Certified

Amanda grew up playing sports year-round and eventually joined the Army in 2006. While in the Army she deployed to Iraq where, she got engulfed in weight lifting and proper nutrition. In 2007, she started training in mixed martial arts, and found a passion specifically for Muay Thai. In 2012, Amanda deployed to Afghanistan for a year. While there she decided to give CrossFit a try in order to improve her cardio for her Muay Thai training. Five weeks after starting CrossFit she competed in her first Crossfit Open, and with that there was no turning back. She began assisting the coaches there, and completed her CF Level 1 course within two weeks of coming home. She loves competing in CrossFit, and with her background of team sports, she loves team competitions.

“I’ve always been an athlete. I love sports and grew up in a house where we were either playing sports or watching sports non-stop. I trained in mixed martial arts for about five years, and had a huge passion Muay Thai. While in Afghanistan, I was very hesitant, but I decided to give CF a try to better myself for MMA. I was quickly sucked into the camaraderie and challenging workouts. I loved the mental grind, and the physical challenges that came with it. Within two months of training, as soon as my first CF Open was over, I knew I wanted to coach. I didn’t know at the time that my love for this sport could be as big as it is, but I knew it was special. As a coach I love celebrating when someone hits a new PR. Strength gains are great and we all love celebrating those, and ringing that PR bell; however, the mental strength that I see on a daily basis is way more significant to me. What I love even more than that though, is seeing an athlete that was blocked by fear of jumping onto a box, get that first box jump, an athlete that lacks self confidence and comes in with an honest feeling of “I can’t” breaking through that mentality and learning that they can, or even having an athlete that at the beginning doesn’t have the mobility to squat below parallel reach that desired mobility. Those are the “PRs” I love to see! In every sport I’ve been involved in I’ve never seen a sport build more mental strength and confidence than CrossFit."
